For The Doggie Fans :D

To all the doggie fans, here’s 2 pictures of Benji and Chiyo having their RMB (Raw Meaty Bones).

They get RMB at least once a month (usually once a fortnight) to clean their teeth and to keep them happy.

As I mentioned in the previous post, they just had their baths yesterday, They smell good now. We’re letting Benji grow out his coat for the winter.

Phew! 2 blog posts in a day! Must be some kinda record!

Sorry I fell…

… off the face of earth…..
We’re all good here… Chubb’s fine, Sunshine’s fine, my mum’s fine, Nad’s fine and the dogs just got their much needed bath yesterday, courtesy of Nad.

The cat is fat.

I’ve been managing…… umn……. well…. let’s just say I’m just starting to get used to having 2 kids.

I know mum is here to help for a month but I just can’t stop thinking about how I need to get used to all of these and get into a disciplined routine while she’s still here so I don’t feel lost when she goes home.

My time now has to be shared by two babies at their needy ages. Each needy in different ways.

Sunshine still wants us to play with her although she does play by herself some times. Obviously, I am not able to play with her when Chubbs’ velcroed to my bosom. I’ve been trying to explain to her that I will carry her when Chubbs’ done feeding. (She responds by whining even more.) Crossing fingers that she understands soon!

Sunshine is not jealous of her brother. On the contrary, she’s been very sweet to him. Few days ago, she was grumpy and we sent her to bed. She was whining while in bed but when Chubbs cried for milk, she stopped whining and said, “Chubbie… Chubbie… Good boy..!”

That really touched our hearts.

Well, the past 2 weeks has been a huge learning curve for me. Exhausting too. Chubbs can feed up to an hour at my breast. Uh huh… amazing huh.

In addition to that, my stitches weren’t healing properly because the doctor that stitched me up, didn’t do a proper job. She didn’t tighten the stitches enough so it took a longer time to heal.

I was sent to the GP, who sent me to the hospital where we (Nad, Sunshine and I – Chubbs was at home with my mum) waited for FIVE FREAKING hours. Only to be sent home with antibiotics which I refused to take. Mainly because

1. My wound is not infected.

2. Although they said it’s safe for breastfeeding, it will cause baby to have diarrhoea. No thanks.

We thought that they would restitch me (ow) or at least put in more stitches to tighten the wound.

If I had enough time during childbirth to get an episiotomy (having a snip down under) instead of having a tear, the wound would have healed much faster as the ‘edges’ of the wound will be straight and ‘clean cut’. However, with a tear, the edges are jagged. (Think tearing a piece of paper vs cutting it with a pair of scissors).

But it’s okay now. I think it’s healing properly.

Two days back, Nad, mum and Sunshine went out to dinner with some of our friends while I stayed home with Chubbs. In my mind, I thought, “Woohoo!!! KNITTING TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

-_________________________-”

Nope. I came down with hay fever. It was so bad that my head was throbbing in pain. And every time I tried to lie down, Chubbs cried.

And when he was finally settled and I was lying in bed, my mobile rang! It was in the dining room so I didn’t bother to pick it up. THEN, the house phone rang. I got up to answer it and it was my mum saying that they were on the way back.

Grr.. any knitting done? NOPE. Cosmic joke’s on me.

But we all went to bed early that night and I woke up much much better. (Gotta define ‘waking up’ since technically, I ‘woke up’ many many times in the middle of the night to feed the baby……)

However, having said all that, I do have not only 1 FO to blog about. Not 2. But THREE FOs!!!

I’m saving it till later because Nikon-san is coming home most probably tonight! I will be able to take pictures tomorrow and blog about the 3 FOs…

I leave you with more pictures of my offsprings. Who do not look like me. I say it isn’t fair that both kids look like Nad. Can I have at least one that looks like me?

Even the frown lines on his forehead resembles his daddy’s.

I spiked up his hair after a bath.

Him in the 2-day sweater I knitted.

Picture updates of my little man

Just dropping by to do a quick photo update.

On his tummy. He doesn’t seem to like lying on his tummy so he usually flips himself over. The midwife was surprised. She said they don’t usually flip themselves until they are much older. Hmm. Sunshine flipped herself over when she was a few days old too.

*Chuu~*

Baby toesies!

Sleeping peacefully.

Okily dokily… he’s crying for his feed now. Off to be his cow~~~

Baby Announcement!

I woke up at about 6.45am on Wednesday with stronger contractions that actually caused me some pain. I thought… “Oh no….. is this it?”

I hopped into the tub and took a NICE LONG warm shower and shampooed my hair. All the while thinking if this is the real thing.

When I stepped out of the shower, I KNEW it was the real thing as the contractions came stronger and nearer! In just a few minutes it progressed! I woke Nad and told him that we have to go. To that he replied, “I will never believe you again!” (Keep his reply in mind. I will explain later!- Maybe in another post.)

Thank God Nad was off work. Otherwise, if he had gone to work, he’ll not make it in time to rush back to fetch me to the hospital!

I called the hospital and they told me to come in immediately. The midwife could time my contractions over the phone and said that it sounds like it’s time.

I got dressed and packed my knitting. Realised that I was about to finish that ball of wool for Nad’s sweater, I quickly went and grabbed another ball from the stash. Hahahaha. Wonders a knitter can do even when experiencing contractions!

By the time we got everything ready (fed Sunshine her milk, packed fruits for her, packed her toys, get dressed etc…) and pulled out of the driveway, it was about 7.45am thereabouts. Nad checked the thermometer and it showed that it was 15 degrees Celsius.

Uh huh..I know what you are thinking. MORNING TRAFFIC!!!!!!!!!

Nad was cool and calm like a cucumber – thank God for that. I was praying to God and asked Him to help me cope with the pain.

I focused only on two things. The many many many many cars on the road, and breathing through the contractions.

At about 8.15, my waters broke. I was sitting on towels. So our car is dry. :D

When we finally reached the hospital, I told Nad to get a wheelchair for me. But then I decided to hop out and walked to the front desk.

“Can I help you?”

“I came to give birth.”

Lol. I couldn’t walk a step further and asked for a wheelchair. And horror of horrors, they couldn’t find any!

When they finally did, one of the midwives said that she had paged for an orderly to bring me up to the Maternal Fetal Assessment Unit. BUT HE WAS TAKING A LONG TIME!!!!

Oh gosh. I told her that I wanted Epidural. Please. The pain. THE PAIIIINNNNN… WHY did I agree to do this again?

We went up in the lift (like after what seemed an eternity) and then through to MFAU.

A cheerful midwife greeted me there, “Hi Jolene!!!”…… (saw me in pain)….”Oh no…… let’s get you to the delivery ward straight away.”

So I was wheeled through the corridors and into the delivery ward with Nad carrying Sunshine right behind us.

They wanted to push me into one of the rooms but someone said, “No no, give her the big room.” And in my mind I was thinking, “No no, give me ANY room. BUT GIVE ME THE DRUGGGSSSS.

As we went into the room, they told me to go onto the bed when my contractions had subsided. I got out of the chair, stripped off my amniotic fluid soaked pants (sorry) and my jacket and my shirt and climbed onto the bed while they draped a gown over me. I clutched onto the foot of the bed (it had metal rails) and started to grunt/shout through the next contraction while in a kneeling position. OWW…..

They checked me and our little boy was already crowning! No wonder I was in so much pain!

I felt like I had not shat for 10 years and 10 years worth of poop was trying to make its way out of my body. I bore down with every contraction I felt and I didn’t care if real poop accidentally slipped out (none did, thank God). I pushed SO HARD.

To cut the short labour even shorter, Chubbs was born with me in the kneeling position and with Nad and Sunshine watching from the side of the bed, less than 20 minutes after we arrived in the hospital. He was born shortly before 9am. No epidural because it all happened too fast.

And it’s worth it.

My little family. Sunshine was very calm and cool too!

They had to stitch me up as I had a tear. And oh gosh…. the stitching was equally bad as the childbirth itself! The doctor did give me local anesthetic but some parts were extremely tender. If not for the stirrups holding my legs up as well as in place, I fear that the doctor might have been kicked in her head.

He resembles Sunshine so much when she was a newborn.

And boy… he is a HUNGRY HUNGRY baby. Which is good!

He weighed 3.15kg at birth and 51cm long. He’s such a good boy and I feel sooooo blessed to have 2 well behaved bubs.

We stayed one night in the hospital (I love hospital food!) and came home yesterday. My mummy is here to help and I feel so blessed for that too. I only just managed to sleep for 2 hours straight this afternoon while he slept as he’s always been waking for feeds every hour and feeding at my breast for up to 2 hours! The breastmilk only came in this morning so I had been topping up his feeds with formula milk before.

Everything is fine, we are all healthy (albeit very exhausted) and happy.

Hello everyone, my name is Chubbs and God loves me.

19 Months Alphabets

She’s very fidgety and keeps scratching her butt… Please ignore that. I assure you we change her diapers regularly and she’s not having cooties on the butt. :D
