Very interesting! I am doing same thing with soaps, but I wrapping the soap up with silicone yarn. Working with silicone materials for several years and that is not hard for me. Next time you too can try to use silicone yarn. It looks like fleece but it is easier to work with it :)

Jen: Thank you! I think my next two swaps would be good! I've been asked questions by both swappers already! *Excited*

purple: I actually don't mind seaming. I usually seam my knitted projects although I do sometimes go for knitting in a round.

Elaine: Hmmm it's a natural alternative to silicon (or whatever they use- I'm not so sure!) heating pads. I think wheat and rice retains heat rather well. Hehehe, yep, they are called sewers:

sew?er
2?
?/?so??r/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [soh-er] Show IPA
–noun
a person or thing that sews.

But pronounced differently from 'sewerage'.

Melanie: Hope you have fun with felting soap and post pictures on your blog! When are you coming back to OZland? I would miss Japan SO MUCH if I were you!

Lots of lovely stuff in this post! It's funny, just this morning I was wondering how people made felted soap. I think I might try it sometime soon.

Hey! You made the heat pads like what I made on <a href="http://salihan.com/2009/02/sectioning-homemade-heating-pad/" rel="nofollow">my blog</a>. Glad you eventually found the wheat and did you use my tip to section the heat pads?

P.S. Can I use the photo of the Ten Cable Hat for my <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Salihan/cabled-baby-hats" rel="nofollow">Ravelry</a> project page?

What is the theory of the bags with wheat and rice in them? Why is the wheat necessary? The bags look like great fun to me - I'm also not a sewer (hey - is a person that sews really spelled like the place that the waste goes down? - interesting!)

Wow - lucky you. I love the bags you sewed. I have knit forever, but am terrible at sewing. I, like many knitters, hate even sewing together my knit projects and put it off as long as possible (and that can be impossibly long :-) )
