Problem? What problem?

I shall knit fervently from stash this coming new year!

For those who get high on yarn prOn, you can take a look at my Ravelry Stash page for the individual pictures and description of my stash.

I still have some not pictured above. Can’t squeeze them all on the single bed!

Oh. And no. I donch haz any problem. What yarn? There is no yarn.

Fishy fishy!!!!

I woke up one day with a blue fish gnawing my head!

AHHHHH!

Hahaha.

Ok.

Name of project: Fishy fishy!!!

Yarn: Bendigo Woollen Mills Classic 8ply in navy, Shepard Colour 4 Me in sky blue, Panda Rustica in white.

Needles: Addi Turbos 4.5mm

Cast on date: 24 December 2008

Cast off date: 28 December 2008

Learned: Nothing.

Modifications: The pattern calls for 10ply yarn. But most of the yarn I’ve used are 8ply. It still fits me fine. Panda Rustica is a 12ply though. But lucky for me, it didn’t bulge at the white bits. I wanted to add a pair of ‘cock-eyes’ for it but Nad prefers it without eyes. He says it looks better without the eyes. *Shrugs*

Mistakes: None.

I will make one for Chubbs and one for Sunshine. It’s a very very good way to use up leftover yarn! The yarn I’ve used are all stash/leftovers. Feels really good using them up and such a quick knit too! I weaved in the ends as I went along so it wasn’t so tedious at the end. I carried most of the yarn inside too so that also reduced the number of ends to weave in.

Baby Wraplan

An FO!

Name of project: Infant Wrap! (You’ll need a Ravelry account to view the pattern)

Yarn: Patons Australia Merino Totem DK 8ply

Needles: Knit picks 3.75mm

Cast on date: 12 December 2008

Cast off date: 18 December 2008 (My birthday!)

Learned: Nothing.

Modifications: There are some weird things going on with the pattern! The mistake rib was weird and different on different panels (I.e the front plackets). I decided to ignore those that didn’t make any sense to me.

Also modified the button bands. Didn’t want to have all 6 buttons.

Mistakes: Nadah.

Baby Chubbs would have something snuggly to snuggle into when he’s born. The yarn is gorgeous and sooo soft! I love the yarn and will definitely get more to store in the stash. It doesn’t flake, so it’s perfect for babies. It’s merino wool and so soft against the skin. And best of all, it’s not too expensive! The perfect choice to knit baby items with.

I’ve also dug up from under my stash UFOs that have been forgotten. Cast on more than a year ago and abandoned.

They are the Peekaboo scarf for my mum-in-law and a basketweave blanket meant for Sunshine. I’ve decided to resurrect them and am knitting them now. The blanket would be for Chubbs, of course. Since it will be too small to cover Sunshine’s long and slender body now.

They should be finished soon as they are easy knits.

A Very Smart Baby

I admit. This is a post where I’m going to brag. But it’s my blog. And I can brag all I want. LOL.

Today Sunshine was playing with her globe. Now Nad has taught her before where Australia is on the globe and we have not played with the globe for quite a few months now.

Out of curiosity to see if she remembers, I asked her, “Sunshine, where do you live?”

And she pointed to the shape of Australia.

Lulu turned the globe so that Australia faced away from her. And we asked her again. She used her finger to turn the globe until she saw Australia and again, pointed to it.

We did this about 5 times. And she pointed to the right continent every single time!

She can also point out on her toys ‘A’ and ‘B’. She recognises in her books, things like ‘table’, ‘comb’, ‘brush’, ‘dog’, ‘cat’ etc etc. She often brings her book to these objects in real life and points to them while pointing back at the book.

She often wakes up without a peep and would crawl off the bed, walk out of the room and join us in the next room. She’s often in all smiles when she wakes up. Which is unusual because most babies I know wake up grouchy/ grumpy/ crying.

However, we have to make sure that the toilet door is firmly shut as she might wander into it when she wakes up and we wouldn’t be alerted since she’s so quiet.

She also follows me to the kitchen every morning where I prepare her milk. She will be so thrilled and would rush back into the bedroom, climb up the bed and lie on her back, in anticipation of her morning feed.

This morning, Lulu woke up and walked past our room and said “Hi!” to Sunshine. She looked at Lulu, thought for a moment and replied, “Hi!”

We were so amazed and asked her to repeat. She was bashful and refused to repeat.

She also does many many things that amaze us. She points to Kelly and says “tat!” (cat!) and yesterday while Nad was giving her a shower, she said, “water!”

She loves to pick books out of the bookshelf, sit herself on our laps and urge us to read to her. (But her attention span is also very short and would walk off before we are even halfway through the story!)

She would play with the puzzle ball and with each and every shape she successfully drops in, she would clap her hands. (Self praise!)

The cheeky little bugger tugged on Lulu’s hair while Lulu was still in bed and she inched backwards, watching Lulu’s reaction. After taking a few steps backwards and satisfied that Lulu was still asleep, she went forward and tugged at her hair again!!!

My mum said that both Lulu and I were able to say many more words than Sunshine when we were her age. I was worried about her speech too but then I thought about it and realised that most geniuses do not speak until they were much older. Hee hee hee.

Maybe Sunshine is a genius in the making?

Long post!

Okay.. since I’ve not been diligent in posting, I shall write as much as I can in this post. Much like being constipated and then finally releasing everything in the toilet.

*Ahem*

Ok… firstly, I wanna show you the recent additions to my bookshelf.

I bought Sew and Stow at a Local Yarn Store few months back. The other two were from Fishpond.

These were all bought from The Book Depository.

From top left: The Very Hungry Caterpillar for Sunshine, A Gathering Of Lace for myself, The Knitting Answer Book for Salihan.

Bottom left: It Itches for myself, Sasha and Tia (Yes I bought 3 of the same!), The Twisted Sisters Knit Sweaters for myself, A Yarn Harlot book (can’t remember the title!) for Tara and Yarn Harlot’s Free Range Knitter for myself.

All of the gift recipients have received their books safely. I also made piggy stitch markers to go with the gifts, except for Sasha’s. Because I ran out of time……… Okaaaaaaaay, I was too lazy.

Then I bought these two books from local bookstores. I’ve read The Graveyard Book and now halfway through American Gods. I’m a new fan of Neil Gaiman!

Now for pictures of my retarded dearest sister with her brand new ‘toy’!

Struggling with the ribbon.

A set of Knitpicks Options Needles!!!!! Bought from Moggy and Me. Incredibly fast shipping and excellent customer service!

I also bought extra tips for my Options set from Knitting Inspirations. Also incredibly fast shipping and excellent customer service!

Don’t ask me why I bought so many gifts for people. No it’s not for xmas. I do not believe in xmas. I just feel like giving. Hehehe.

Now for a knitted item!

Pardon the blurry pictures.

Name of project: Cabled Toddling Sox for Jade

Yarn: Heirloom Cotton 8ply

Needles: Knit picks 3.75mm

This pair of socks were for my God-sis’ 4th baby, Jade’s first birthday. What a mouthful to say!

I made it in cotton so that she can wear it in summer.

Last but not least, I joined an Orange Swap on Ravelry. I just sent my package out today and since the person I’m sending to doesn’t know that I’m the sender yet, I guess it’s safe to reveal the pictures here.
She’ll be getting the package in a few days time anyway.

From top left: Organic tea and 2 balls of WooLganic merino wool from The Yarn Cafe. A bottle of orange body wash from Watsons. The paper bag contains two handmade stitch markers (photos below).

Bottom Left: Malabrigo Worsted in the Glazed Carrot colourway. A pack of Snoopy tissues and 2 orange paper clips.

Yeah, I smudged the paint of the cat on the right. :( Am out of touch with painting clay figurines! :( I really hope that my swappee won’t mind.

Here’s how they look like all wrapped up and ready to be posted:

Okay, that’s all folks!

I’m knitting quite a lot now as you can see on the sidebar, I have more than 5 projects on my needles which is breaking my own rules. But to hell with my rules. I’m having a baby and I’m allowed to cast on as many projects as I want! NyaaahHHHhh!

Have a great week!
