Sheepy!!!

I made this little sheep quite a while ago some time in April.

He’s a toilet roll holder.

I made it for LoopyLouey, a.k.a Lois. She had a bad week then and I wanted to cheer her up. *Shakes fist at the person who caused her grief* She named him……….. SHEEPY. Hahahahaha.

Name of project: Sheepy! Toilet roll cover

Yarn: I think it was Kmart Clinker in Beige? And Cleckheaton Country 8ply in White.

Needles: Opps… I can’t remember!

Cast on date: April 2008

Cast off date: April 2008 (Completed in a few days)

Learned: Nothing. This is a heavily modified pattern. See below.

Modifications: I modified a pattern for a piggy toilet roll cover and added loopy stitches to it to make the sheep’s ‘fluff’. The pattern for the nose and eyes and ears were from a pattern for a sheepy tea cozy.

Mistakes: The first one I casted on, I did the loop stitches every two rows and on every stitch. My thumb almost dropped off. So I ripped it out and did the loop stitches every two rows but on every other stitch instead.

(He looks like he’s contemplating… )

I think I may make another for other friends. Tee hee hee.

Kimono For Sunshine!

I’ve also casted off Sunshine’s Kimono Jacket. It was a quick knit and accompanied me on my bus and train trips to work.

Name of project: Kimono Jacket for Sunshine

Yarn: 3 x Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino in Purple ( 55% merino wool, 33% microfibre, 12% cashmere)

1 x Debbie Bliss Astrakhan in White ( 55% merino wool, 33% microfibre, 12% cashmere)

Needles: Knitpicks Nickel Plated 5mm

Cast on date: 11 May 2008

Cast off date: 21 May 2008

Learned: Nothing. :D I’m good!

Modifications: Used a thinner yarn but bigger needles. Used two different types of yarn in different colours instead of just one colour.

Mistakes: None! :D I’m damn good!

Did you know that if you wear a Kimono, you’ll have to wrap the left side OVER the right?

Right on top of the left is only used when you want to dress a corpse for burial. So people with intentions of knitting Kimonos, please take note!

With this, I end my rantings. I’ve written 3 blog posts in a day. That’s a great accomplishment for me! Remember to scroll down to read the other posts!

Swallowtail Shawl for Mummy

My very first lace project.

Before blocking.

Soaking. Looks like vermicelli!

Blocking. Sasha brought her blocking rods over and helped me with the blocking process! Thank God she came over because I was not stretching the shawl enough while blocking it.

Nupps up close and personal. I wonder why they call them nupps. They look more like bunions to me. Hehehe.

Me modeling it. *Blush blush*.

Hope my mummy likes it. :D

Name of project: Swallowtail Shawl for My Mummy

Yarn: JaggerSpun Zephyr in Vanilla. 50% Chinese Tussah silk, 50% fine grade Merino wool

Needles: Knitpicks Harmony 4.5mm

Cast on date: 4 May 2008

Cast off date: 20 May 2008

Learned: That Pride Cometh Before a Fall. Put lifelines into as many rows as possible and COUNT after every row!!!

Modifications: Used a bigger sized needles to make the shawl bigger.

Mistakes: Many. But you wouldn’t be able to tell. Which is good. Tee hee hee.

Our Poor Car…

As promised, photos of our dearest Echo bashed up.

The dent you can see at the left side is actually put in by me…. *blush* when I backed into a stationary ute last year. The ute was unharmed. Well, what do you expect from metal vs plastic?

The part where it’s dented at the ‘Echo’ logo was also put in by me when I backed into SOMEONE who inconsiderately plonked their concrete letter box in the middle of the driveway!

But these were the result of the accident. :(

He’s going to the workshop tomorrow and will be there for a week. :(

I checked the bus routes and no buses run from the uni by the time I knock off work and I would have to walk a distance in the dark (yes, it’s almost winter now and the sun sets at 5.30pm!) to the other busstop. Nad wouldn’t hear of me walking alone in the dark so we’ve decided to rent a car instead. It will not be covered by our insurance policy, unfortunately. But I guess we’ll have to count our blessings rather than wallow in self pity all the time.

I’m eternally grateful to Sasha and Skoot for their tremendous help. They loaned us the laptop that I’m using now till we can get the conkputer fixed. Our motherboard has gone to lala land and because it’s 2 years old, we will have to change EVERYTHING except our hard disks and power box. New motherboards will not accept our old ram, chipset (processor), graphics card etc.

So yep. Loads of money flying out of our pockets!!!!!! Grrrrr.

We’ve also realised that the power supply in this old house is acting up. The lights are okay but the power sockets have been crappy after the storm on early Friday morning. I did notice that the fridge’s light was flickering but didn’t think much about it. Until I plugged in the vacuum cleaner and it went, “WHIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrr…r…..r………………..r…………..r…………………..*silence*…………..

…………………WHIRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!rrrrrrrrrrrrrr………r……………..r……………r…. *silence*…………………………………………………”

Now we suspect that it’s the house’s power supply problem that caused our conkputer to conk!!!

Will be having a talk to the real estate agent tomorrow. It’s unacceptable to be living in house with unreliable power supply and especially so when we have a baby!

I pray that our sorrows will end now. No more dramas in my life, please. I’ve had enough already.

CONKputer conked out!

JUST WHEN I HAD A SHORT BREAK FROM WORK!!!!!!

I have casted off and blocked my mum’s Swallowtail Lace shawl and I’ve also casted off Sunshine’s Kimono jacket and was about to blog all about it when the conkputer conked!!!

Am at Sasha’s place now checking my exploding mailbox and updating this space.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr……….. WHY DO BAD THINGS HAVE TO HAPPEN TO US ALL AT ONCE???????????

Next week our car would be at the workshop for the whole week and I would have to commute to and fro work.

I’ll get lots of knitting time, no doubt but it’d be hard to go anywhere else.. GRRRRR.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

At least now we have more time for knitting, bible study and bedroom activities, errr more quality time with Sunshine.

I promise once the conkputer is un-conked, I will post pictures of my FOs!!! (I was actually VERY excited about it!!! It’s really very nice~!!!!)
