I’m busy killing my brain cells

When I thought that inoriz.com was the last ever website that I would ever create in my entire life, here I am, embarked on a journey of Killing-me-braincells-softly-with-php.

This website is 100000 times harder than installing wordpress. It makes wordpress installation look like ABC. Because it’s e-Commerce. And because I’m poor, I use Open Source. Which means I have to figure out every single thing by myself.

But guess what? Much as I detest all the mumbo jumbo codings (and I’m very sure that the codes detest me too), I’m beginning to sort of get a hang of it. – But still on the verge of breaking down and using the nearest knitting needle to stab my eyes out.  -

It’s a love-hate relationship.

What am I selling? I can’t tell you now. Tee hee. All I can say is that my stocks have arrived and my site is still not ready. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Not much knitting done. I’ve finished the slip stitch jumper sweater and am halfway through the second bootie. So the baby set would be finished very soon.

I’m almost done with the body of my bag swap bag. Left with perhaps 1 more row of the body and then I can start knitting the handles.

I frogged the Central Park Hoodie. With Sasha’s help. I shall post pictures of all these later when my brain cells regenerate.  Perhaps it will never regenerate……. they have all fallen out of my brain in sheer terror at the sight of those codes.

It also doesn’t help that it’s freakishly hot now. 1 more month till it cools down. URGHHH. I HATE SUMMER!!!!!!!

Se7en Things About Me

Gee.

I was tagged by Salihan to do a this. Uhhh..I spent quite a lot of time thinking about 7 things to write about myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been thinking for days……. Hmmmmm….

Seven things about me:

  1. I don’t celebrate christmas. Yes, I am a Christian. But christmas, contrary to popular belief, has got nothing to with Christ. Rather, it has everything to do with paganism, 25 Dec being the birthday of almost every pagan god ever invented. Also, there is absolutely nothing written about celebrating the birth of Jesus in the Bible.   Christ said to remember his death and resurrection but He never did tell us to party, get drunk, get laid, buy presents etc on his birthday. He was not born in December either. If He were, the shepherds minding their sheep in the night would be foolish people – their sheep would have become frozen lamb. And Herod would have been a very foolish ruler – to send the people traveling back to their hometowns for the census would have defeated the purpose since most of them would have froze to death on their way home. I love Jesus and God every single day. Not just on 25 December. I give gifts to my family members and friends for no reason (just ask them!) and I love them every single day, not just on their birthdays, valentine’s day, mother/father’s day etc. It’s just a whole load of BS and the only ones that benefit from all these are greedy money minded merchants. And no, no easter for me either.
  2. My favorite subject is Math. I’ve always scored A1 for Math except for my O’levels which I shockingly got an A2 for. I still think that there is a mix up in the papers or the marker is cock-eyed. Hahaha.
  3. I love all animals and I can be in the same room with most insects, EXCEPT FOR THE DAMNED COCKROACH. I HATE COCKROACHES AND AM SCARED TO DEATH OF THEM AND WHOEVER DARES TO SCARE ME WITH COCKROACHES WILL MEET WITH MY FURY FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS TO COME! Consider yourself warned. And because I’m afraid of them, the only way I can ever kill cockroaches is by spraying insecticide or hairspray/fabric starch (it stiffens their legs and they will be immobilised!)
  4. I can speak English, a little Mandarin and a smattering of Japanese. I went to school learning English and Chinese (which I hated and promptly returned most of it to my teachers) and I have a JLPT3 (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) certificate. I want to go on to do JLPT2. Hope I can do that soon.
  5. Damn… I’m only up to number 5??? Err…. I am hopeless in the kitchen. I can’t cook well. Luckily my husband cooks yummilicious food! When I’m alone, I’d rather eat instant noodles, chocolates, chips, fast-food etc.
  6. I like challenges in the things that I enjoy doing. This is why my first ever knitting project was a pair of booties which required increasing and decreasing and yarn overs etc instead of a plain scarf. I started my first garter stitch baby cardigan soon after and I got so bored of it I wanted to rip it into a million pieces. When I was younger, my tutor would give me math homework and I would skip the easy stuff, writing “Don’t know how to do” or “Don’t understand” in the spaces but I would attempt the challenging questions at the back and get correct answers. Tutor spoke with my mom and I got a huge scolding for being lazy afterwards!
  7. Last one! Okay… I aspire to be a vet. I would love to work in the ER (Emergency Room) department. As I said in point 6, I love to be on my toes. So working as a GP vet doesn’t really appeal to me. I like the adrenaline rush as I save animals from near-death. I also do not advocate euthanasia. I feel the matter of life and death should be in God’s hands. It pains us to see a dear pet suffering, I know. But why don’t more people put to sleep their own friends or relatives when they are in the last stages of cancer? Controversial? Totally. Just because we are superior to an animal gives us the right to ‘decide’ on behalf of God? (I did not say ‘decide on behalf of the animal’. I said ‘decide on behalf of God’.) I do realise that working in ER, I would see many animals being put to sleep due to owners having not enough money, not enough faith, or simply are bastards. This is something I have yet to come to terms with and I hope as I grow in my faith, God would speak to me on handling such situations.

Hmm.. I guess these 7 points would allow my readers (I check my blog stats.. there’s a WHOLE LOT of silent readers out there yo!) to know me a tad better since I seldom ever discuss my innermost feelings in public. I don’t think many know the nature of my work nor know that I do not celebrate xmas.

Don’t be misunderstood. This is all of my own choice and this is my life. I do not force anyone to stop celebrating xmas neither do I force anyone not to put their pets to sleep. I am not trying to influence anybody nor am I trying to pick a quarrel or fight with anyone.

Now for another headache… tagging other people! ARRGHHH.

Men……..>__>

So there has been some changes this week as Nad had been posted to another school slightly further away from home. And knowing my superb navigational skills, it is not recommended that I drive that far into uncharted waters territories unbeknownst to me.

Heck, tell me to make a small detour just outside my home and it will most definitely cause panic and confusion.

Therefore, Nad now takes the car to school while the very kind Sasha, would pick both me and Sunshine up, send me to the train station and then bring Sunshine back to her lair home.

Today was my second time ever on the train. Trains here are clean and tidy and does not blare warnings about jumping onto the tracks. Nor standing behind yellow lines. Nor not keeping belongings unattended. In four different languages. Every 2 minutes.

Seats are also cushioned.

It took me only 30 minutes in all to get to work. The bus ride after the train ride was complimentary too, to my pleasant surprise. Apparently, if you transfer to a bus within a short time frame after your train ride, the bus trip is free.

ANYWAY, I DIGRESS… Grrr.

I was saying that Nad will collect the wittle woman from Sasha after school and come home and wait till it’s time to fetch me.

BUT, our friend Nad chirped happily, “So I will fetch you home from the station today then!”

……………………………………………………………………………

After a long silence, I replied, “No………………. you come to my workplace to fetch me.”

Brain click clacking, “Oh….! Yeah….!”

“DUH!”

The Wittle Woman

I have been very tired this entire week. Mainly because of my womanly monthly troubles. Let me sidetrack abit. Did you know that:

  • “A lobster’s kidneys are in its forehead and its teeth are in its stomach.”
  • “Buckingham palace has 600 rooms.”
  • “Xerophargy refers to a diet of bread and water.”
  • “To simply walk you use 200 muscles.”
  • “The highest rating that can be given to a top quality diamond is D-Flawless.”
  • “The pelican breathes through its mouth. It has no nostrils.”
  • “Elephants and short-tailed shrews get only two hours of sleep each day.”
  • The initials M.G. on famous cars stand for Morris Garage.”

How do I know all these?

Simply by changing my sanitary napkin. Yes, the brand I use (Libra) has these facts printed on the strip of paper covering the sticky tape. Every time I change my pad I gain knowledge. I shall change more often!

Err, not forgetting of course, I change for hygienic reasons. *Ahem*

So anywaayyyy…….. I have been knackered. Falling asleep at the driving wheel the moment my head hits the pillow. I took a short nap today after work too. Was so tired that I zonked out with Sunshine kicking away beside me. But the one thing I praise God is that………….. HER NANNY IS WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!

She is a very responsible and lovely lady. And we found out that we have so much in common! She is the same age as I am, only that she is 11 months older. She loves to knit. She is arty farty. She is an animal lover. She shares many views with me. She is intellectual. She is pretty. (Please remember that I’m talking about the things that we have in common.) *Ahem*

I’ve been sending Nad to school in the morning, coming home to do some housework, then off to Sasha’s place to knit and chat and snort over crazy stories. Then I’ll leave the little woman in her care while I go off to work. Then Nad would pick her up in about 3 to 4 hours and come home.

Sunshine loves Sasha. She smiles and gurgles and even naps on her! Sasha even reads to her. Awww.. so much individual attention. Sunshine is one spoilt and lucky girl.

Recent baby developments include:

  • Sitting up all by herself
  • Grabbing at toys, letting them go to grab other toys
  • Blowing raspberries to create more drool (as if normal drooling isn’t enough already!)
  • Giggling when we tickle her. Her nerve endings must have developed!
  • Holding on to her milk bottle (sometimes)
  • Smiling at people she knows and loves
  • Smiling at strangers anyway
  • Enraptured by TV (since……..many months ago)

She’s also trying to crawl. But then again, she’s been trying to crawl for about 3 months now. One day!

So I leave you with her pictures.

Her wittle wittle fwingers.

Horns on her head.

My wittle moo moo cowlet.

“I’m so happy on my tummy!”

Holding her milk bottle! :D

Okay. Till the next urge to blog, see ya and take care and God Bless and Happy Lunar New Year!

First time away….

Tomorrow is the first time Sunshine will be in her nanny’s care. Her nanny is actually a knitterly friend of mine and she is a very nice woman (I’m not sure if it’s okay to mention her name here though so I won’t unless she exposes herself! Hehehe).

I will miss Sunshine so so so so much… although it’s just going to be a few hours a day…..but……this is the first time she has been away from family members!

I really pray that she will be a good bubba and not give too much trouble!

Sunshine, please be a good girl. Mommy and Daddy will be with you soon! Don’t be mischievous! Behave!
