Work In Progresses

Sorry peeps.. Have been up to something secretive past few days. Hence the lack of posts. (Actually, it’s just an excuse for my laziness.)

I shall show you pictures of my WIPs and a FO. For the benefit of non-knitters, here’s a tiny knitting terminology:

FO – Finished Object

UFO – Unfinished Objects

WIP – Work In Progress

CO – Cast On (Started) *Also ‘Jump on’*

BO – Bind Off (Finished) *Also ‘Jump off’*

Of course, you didn’t want to know all that crap, did you?

Alright. Lets start with my Saartje’s booties.

Name of project: Saartje’s Booties for James

Yarn: Heirloom 8 Ply cotton

Needles: Addi Turbo 2mm

Cast on date: Don’t remember

Cast off date: I finished them in less than a day.

Learned: Nothing

Mistakes: None………………

This is for my new nephew, James. I also made a pair for my friend’s unborn son. :D

This is my Central Park Hoodie. I’ve done the back and the left front. I used a DK weight when I was supposed to use a Worsted. So I upped my needle sizes and knitted very loosely. Bad move. It’s now a little too big for me. *Sobs* But that’s alright. We all learn. The hard way.

I do love the yarn though. It’s a Filatura Di Crosa Zara. Mmmmm… Soft.

This sweater is currently hibernating. It’s for Sunshine and this is the half-done back. The yarn is also Filatura Di Crosa. Exact same one.

This cardigan is also hibernating. Also for Sunshine. It’s a pretty lace and the yarn is so smooth and shiny that my fingers get shiny too when I knit with it!

If I were to do sweaters/ cardigans, I will definitely KNIT IN THE ROUND. Grrr.. I’m sick of seaming. I hate seaming. That’s why I wised up for the next project:

This is a slip stitch sweater with instructions for knitting to and fro. But I modified it to be knit in the round. Ain’t I smart? I’ve only knitted for 4 months, you know!? Hehehe. This sweater is for Jes. Well not for her, but for her baby.

I made these stitch markers yesterday because I ran out of plain ones. I kinda like them. Hehe.

I did have a couple more FOs but I gave them to my friends. You can see Chichi (the yellow striped cat) here at Salihan’s blog. And a pair of tiny sock stitch markers for Knitnutt (Sasha) here.

I do have another WIP which is the Australian Bag Lady Swap bag. But I shan’t post it here just yet. :D

Okay, gotta run. Busy busy.

Some Photos…….

…………………..taken in Singapore last December when we went for a visit.

This is Sunshine’s 2 year old cousin. He’s recently upgraded to an older brother. Ain’t the both of them sweeeet?

This is Sunshine smiling at my grandmother. I think this photo is really sweet. *Sigh*. Bitter-sweet. My granny doesn’t really remember who I am. She thought I was my auntie’s daughter. And then she thought my mom was my sister. And she took almost 1 hour to realise that Sunshine is her great-grand-daughter.

Sigh, there are so many things I want to say about my granny but I won’t spill all these on a public blog. *Wink* I love her.

Sucka sucka sucka.

Yep, desperate knitting mahjong-playing housewives. They caught the knitting bug from me!

We had a great night. Not so much the partteeeyyy-till-you-drop-drunk-and-hangover kind of great. But the knit-mahjong-chatty kind of great. We’ve aged.

Mer carrying Sunshine.

I like Sunshine’s expression in this picture!!!

I turned 24 years old. Had an ice scream cream cake which came with dry ice which I promptly plomped into a bowl of water and watched the ‘smoke’ fill the table. Hahaha.

And I end my very boring post with a…………………

Less Blogging, More Knitting

Yes yes, I have not been blogging much lately.

Have been knitting and knitting alot! :D

I promise I’ll post pictures of FOs and UFOs ok?

Here’s a (boring) list of what I’ve knitted (photos will be added later):

  • Saartje’s booties for a friend’s son due in 6 weeks time (finished)
  • Central Park Hoodie for myself (finished back and front left. Groaning at the sight of how much seaming I’ll have to do and kicking myself for not knitting in the round.)
  • Little Treasure’s Jacket (lace) for Sunshine(unfinished. Knitting at a snail pace because, you know, lace. takes. way. too. long. to. knit.)
  • Slip stitch sweater (I REFUSE to call it a JUMPER!) for a friend’s baby girl due soon too (unfinished. Casted on yesterday and making better progress than the rest of WIPs)
  • French Market Bag for Australian Bag Lady Swap on Ravelry (unfinished but will have to finish it soon!)
  • Aran Pullover for Sunshine (unfinished. Hibernation mode. Dreading the seaming.)

I shall hereby knit all sweaters (THEY ARE NOT CALLED JUMPERS) in the round. Pffft… I hate seaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright No Fetching

After poking around on Ravelry, I realised that it was Malabrigo WORSTED that I should have bought for Fetching. NOT CHUNKY.

I guess I’ll just have to see what I can knit with one skein of chunky Malabrigo.

(And purchase worsted Malabrigo another time.)

Too Hot To Blog

*Smoke coming out of Inori’s head*

We’ve been hovering in the company of heat in its high 30s for the past week. I feel like Teppanyaki human everytime I walk outside. The house is like an oven, happily absorbing heat.

But it’s never too hot to knit. Neither will it ever be too hot to gush over my newly acquired skein-o-Malabrigo wool.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm…….. Malabrigo. It’s the softest wool I’ve ever tasted held. I may consider only knitting with Malabrigo from this day onwards. Anyone feeling rich is always welcome to sponsor my yarn addiction.

A very very nice lady, who is also my colleague, has given me an air cooler. (Not to be confused with the all mighty Air Con). I will be inheriting it tomorrow and I cannot wait to fondle use it.

I love her so much. She has given me hope for the summer.

Sunshine is starting to giggle at the appropriate moments, as opposed to smiling and giggling all the time. I played Peek-A-Boo and she chuckled at the ‘Boo!’ sound as I appear behind her towel.

I guess she’s beginning to be even more aware of her surroundings. She’s a happy kid. That’s why she’s my Sunshine. Not that I want anymore sun in my home. But you know what I mean.

I’m still burying my nose in my Malabrigo Chunky Mango. I plan to knit Fetching with this but looking at the amount…………I MAY not have enough.

Ah well, if there isn’t enough, I’ll just have to buy another skein. (And top up the order with even more to take advantage of the shipping costs.)

Lalalalala.
