Lulu’s Holey Skirt

June 21st, 2008

SHIT!!!!!!! I TYPED AN ENTIRE ENTRY BUT HIT THE WRONG BUTTON AND EVERYTHING DISAPPEARED!!!! *Cries*

SO AS I WAS SAYING……….. finally have the time to sit my butt down amidst all the work I have to do to upload pictures of my latest FO.

This photo looks scary - like as if she is floating in mid air. *Shudders*

Please pardon the photos - they are very badly taken, I know.

Name of project: Lulu’s Eyelet Skirt

Yarn: 9.5 balls of Moda Vera Bamboo/Cotton in Blue

Needles: Knitpicks Nickel Plated and Harmony 4.5mm

Cast on date: 17 March 2008

Cast off date: 02 June 2008 (It was hibernating for a long time.)

Learned: Nothing.

Modifications: Knitted in the round. Also shortened it by not doing as many repeats of the eyelets. Thank goodness I did so because Lulu is very short. >__<

Mistakes: None! :D

This yarn is very splitty and slippery. But then again, it was relatively cheap yarn from Spotlight. So we can’t expect too much, can we?

The skirt was quite heavy but the draw string I crocheted holds it up fine. I hope it doesn’t drop when Lulu wears it out. Imagine the embarrassment!

On other knitty note, I’ve casted on a few projects. Namely a pair of fingerless gloves for my Aussie Swap Pal, a pair of fingerless gloves for my co-worker’s birthday gift - both of which I have completed one side -, a Donkey Jacket for Rachel which has gone into hibernation because I needed the needles to start on my Central Park Hoodie.

Yes, I’ve re-casted on my CPH in Cascade 220 wool! Hopefully things go smoothly this time.

Alright, off to knit. I have not knitted the whole day!

I leave you with a picture of Rachel sitting in the suitcase. :D

I’m BAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!

June 16th, 2008

Wooo! Hooo!!!!!

It’s great to be back (minus the fact that my other loved ones are not here…. *pouts*)

Lovely 11 degrees now…… (brrr)…… My beloved doggies and kitteh… Sasha and Scoot… my SnB… my SPANKING NEW BUTT ECHO!! (Back from the workshop with a very nice butt!!!)… my pillow and bolster…. etc etc etc etc

Well, I’ve been unpacking like a mad woman and also doing the laundry, changing the bedsheets etc… laundry is a pain to do in winter. It rains almost everyday and the clothes won’t dry!!! I have a good mind to pack them and bring them to work - put them in the dryer there… If only I can be sure that no one there will see my panties churning round and round in the dryer… hmmmm.

I’ve also been planning to change the layout of some furniture in the house. We have moved a desk from the computer room into the spare room in anticipation of Rachel’s new playpen to be put in the computer room. Am going to shift the sofa and TV so that the sofa will not be cutting the living room into half, making it smaller than it really is.

Our house is really full of junk. Grrrrr…….

I feel refreshed after 12 hours of sleep. Yes. I slept at 10pm last night!

Off to work now!

I wanna go home…..

June 10th, 2008

Other than the lovely people I’m staying with now (my mum and sister, of course) and the cheap and good (albeit unhealthy) food, I’m pretty much over this place.

I wanna go home.

Reverse culture shock?

The toxins are coming back.

Timmi, The Trailblazer of our hearts

June 5th, 2008

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

Dearest Timmi,

Thank you for sharing your life with us. Thank you for being A’s guardian angel. Thank you for your love and your being there for A. Thank you for being a bright and shining star. Thank God for allowing us to know you and to spend our lives with you.

You will always be a champion in our hearts. The way you and Lasse used to run the obstacle courses while barking at each other will always be etched in many people’s mind. The medals and trophies you won may not mean much to you nor us. But we did have fun, didn’t we?

Now you are free from all your old age pains and sores. There will be fun obstacle courses and fun bike rides where you are now. Where your soul is young again and you can run freely in the fields once again.

Timmi, wait for us. We will meet again one day and we can go running once again. Lasse, Benji and Chiyo will play with you again. Wait for us.

Love from,

A, Lasse, Nad, Benji, Chiyo, Puss, Kelly, Rachel and me

If you get there before I do, don’t give up on me.

I’ll meet you when my chores are through;

I don’t know how long I’ll be.

But I’m not gonna let you down, darling wait and see.

And between now and then, till I see you again,

I’ll be loving you. Love, me.

Dear Timmi

Proof That We’re Sisters

June 1st, 2008

I was on Windows Live Messenger with Lulu the other night and this is the conversation we had:

ME: Guess what song I’m humming now.

ME: du dududu du du du du, du dudududu duuuu du.

ME: DU DU DU DU DU!

LULU: LOL…..

ME: DU DU DU DU DU!

LULU: Children’s song?

ME: Yep!

ME: DU DU DU DU DU! Du dududududuuuu du….

LULU: B I N G O!!! B I N G O!!! And Bingo was his name oh!!!!!!!

ME: !!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOSH… YOU ARE MY SISTER!!!!!

*Embraces each other with tears flooding the room*

Ahahaha.. it’s so funny… I wish she was here with us. :( I miss her so much!

On another note, her eyelet skirt is only 4 rows and bind off to completion! It would go really fast if not for the 10990238 stitches on the needle.

Well, at least it SEEMS like there are THAT many stitches!

There are many things that had happened during the week. Good and bad, I suppose. Our life will undergo some changes again. :D

I love my family and friends. *Hugs everyone*

I’m off to be Sasha’s donkey help Sasha move house now!

Sheepy!!!

May 27th, 2008

I made this little sheep quite a while ago some time in April.

He’s a toilet roll holder.

I made it for LoopyLouey, a.k.a Lois. She had a bad week then and I wanted to cheer her up. *Shakes fist at the person who caused her grief* She named him……….. SHEEPY. Hahahahaha.

Name of project: Sheepy! Toilet roll cover

Yarn: I think it was Kmart Clinker in Beige? And Cleckheaton Country 8ply in White.

Needles: Opps… I can’t remember!

Cast on date: April 2008

Cast off date: April 2008 (Completed in a few days)

Learned: Nothing. This is a heavily modified pattern. See below.

Modifications: I modified a pattern for a piggy toilet roll cover and added loopy stitches to it to make the sheep’s ‘fluff’. The pattern for the nose and eyes and ears were from a pattern for a sheepy tea cozy.

Mistakes: The first one I casted on, I did the loop stitches every two rows and on every stitch. My thumb almost dropped off. So I ripped it out and did the loop stitches every two rows but on every other stitch instead.

(He looks like he’s contemplating… )

I think I may make another for other friends. Tee hee hee.

Kimono For Rachel!

May 25th, 2008

I’ve also casted off Rachel’s Kimono Jacket. It was a quick knit and accompanied me on my bus and train trips to work.

Name of project: Kimono Jacket for Rachel

Yarn: 3 x Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino in Purple ( 55% merino wool, 33% microfibre, 12% cashmere)

1 x Debbie Bliss Astrakhan in White ( 55% merino wool, 33% microfibre, 12% cashmere)

Needles: Knitpicks Nickel Plated 5mm

Cast on date: 11 May 2008

Cast off date: 21 May 2008

Learned: Nothing. :D I’m good!

Modifications: Used a thinner yarn but bigger needles. Used two different types of yarn in different colours instead of just one colour.

Mistakes: None! :D I’m damn good!

Did you know that if you wear a Kimono, you’ll have to wrap the left side OVER the right?

Right on top of the left is only used when you want to dress a corpse for burial. So people with intentions of knitting Kimonos, please take note!

With this, I end my rantings. I’ve written 3 blog posts in a day. That’s a great accomplishment for me! Remember to scroll down to read the other posts!

Swallowtail Shawl for Mummy

May 25th, 2008

My very first lace project.

Before blocking.

Soaking. Looks like vermicelli!

Blocking. Sasha brought her blocking rods over and helped me with the blocking process! Thank God she came over because I was not stretching the shawl enough while blocking it.

Nupps up close and personal. I wonder why they call them nupps. They look more like bunions to me. Hehehe.

Me modeling it. *Blush blush*.

Hope my mummy likes it. :D

Name of project: Swallowtail Shawl for My Mummy

Yarn: JaggerSpun Zephyr in Vanilla. 50% Chinese Tussah silk, 50% fine grade Merino wool

Needles: Knitpicks Harmony 4.5mm

Cast on date: 4 May 2008

Cast off date: 20 May 2008

Learned: That Pride Cometh Before a Fall. Put lifelines into as many rows as possible and COUNT after every row!!!

Modifications: Used a bigger sized needles to make the shawl bigger.

Mistakes: Many. But you wouldn’t be able to tell. Which is good. Tee hee hee.
